Waitrose Free From Chocolate Brownies – Bite Sized Food Review

“These Gluten Free brownies from Waitrose are remarkably good value given the generous portion size of each cake. There has been an issue with consistency with some of their cakes, the caramel cupcake bites were an enjoyable treat but felt a little stodgy and lose in the base. In contrast their Christmas mince pie had a more rigid density in its casing and a rich fruity filling that made for a tasty alternative to the Costa Mince Tart. Given the growing range of Gluten Free brownie alternatives available today I was curious to see whether Waitrose would be able to compete with a great tasting product that had a similar consistency and finish to its traditional wheat based counterpart.” Continue reading Waitrose Free From Chocolate Brownies – Bite Sized Food Review

Brighton Vacation – Food and Things to do on a Rainy Day

“Brighton, one of the best coastal cities in the UK famed for its beaches, promenades and lifestyles was a fascinating place to spend a couple of days away from London. We’d visited this bright and colourful city on a number of occasions before but this was the first time we had decided to spend a couple of days without the need to get back to the Capital as the sun went down. In the absence of any international travel in the near future, this was as close to a beach holiday we’ve experienced in the last year and certainly we were blessed with a break in the weather that made for an enjoyable experience. Enjoying the simple pleasures of a traditional British seaside vacation, fish and chips on the beach, spending a pocketful of change at the arcade.” Continue reading Brighton Vacation – Food and Things to do on a Rainy Day

Citrus Gins Explorers Collection: A Virtual Cocktail Experience – Bite Sized Food Review

After our first, Gin Tasting event with the Craft Gin Club’s Virtual Classical tasting experience there were high expectations whether this would live up to some of the delicious drinks we discovered on the night. On this occasion it was designed around a collection of citrus based gins, instead of a traditional Gin and Tonic that elevates the natural flavours of the ingredients used in the distillation process of the alcohol, an assortment of themed cocktails using the Gin as the base ingredient and adding an assortment of syrups to create alternative blends of traditional drinks. It had the potential to mask the subtle notes and tones of the natural ingredients in the gin blends in contrast to the sweeter flavours of the cocktails, but with four distinct gins to try, there were high hopes we would find a new favourite to enjoy and learn about. Lola’s Cupcakes: Raspberry and Chocolate Gluten Free Cupcake – Bite Sized Food Review

“Lola’s Cupcakes was founded back in 2006 by two friends, Victoria Jossel and┬áRomy Lewis who turned a love of baking into a business with their first concession in Selfridges and a flagship store in Mayfair. Whilst the two founders have moved on from the company, it still maintains that original direction of using the finest, freshest ingredients baked daily in London. Offering a variety of staple classics and seasonal flavours there is a huge selection to satiate your sweet tooth but it was the fortuitous opportunity to try one of their tasty Gluten Free cupcakes that drew me in.” Continue reading Lola’s Cupcakes: Raspberry and Chocolate Gluten Free Cupcake – Bite Sized Food Review
